8/31 Homework- How To: Raz-Kids Login
Hello! I hope you all had a great weekend! Here are the directions for logging into Raz-Kids. On Monday, the students will be required to login to their Raz Kids account and begin reading/completing assignments. Last week I completed Reading Records for each child and updated their reading levels in Raz-kids, so once they log in, they should be able to read books and complete assignments for their level. I will adjust these multiples times a year as your child's reading improves so that the books remain engaging, yet challenging for your child. When Raz-Kids is assigned for homework, I just ask that they remain on the site for 20 minutes actively reading or completing assignments as I can monitor their activity on my account. If you have any more questions about this website, feel free to ask!

Spelling List for Test Tomorrow
Hello parents! Just in case, here is the spelling homework that is due tomorrow. The students are to write each word 5 times and practice those words. There is also a dictation portion of the test, so I will be reading the sentence out loud and students will have to write the sentence on their paper. Here is a picture!

Homework 8/27
Hello Parents! It was so nice meeting you at Back-to-School Night this evening! The homework for Thursday night is just spelling and reading for 20 minutes. Please sign your child's homework log to show that they read for 20 minutes. There will be a spelling test Friday morning. :)
8/26 Homework
Hello! I hope to see you all at back to school night! There are two times for 3rd grade, so you may come at either 5:30pm or 6:00pm to help with the parking situation. As for homework, your child has one page of math homework and their spelling. Their spelling is due Friday, but the math is due tomorrow. :)

The homework tonight is a math practice page focusing on multiplication and reading for 20 minutes. As always, please sign your child's homework log so I know they read for 20 minutes. Also, if you haven't done so already, please complete your child's emergency card and return it with them tomorrow. Thanks for being great parents! :)

Homework 8/24
So sorry for the late post! I have been trying to get into my own website for the past 3 hours! Somehow I got locked out, but I can assure you that homework posts will be updated earlier in the day than this! The homework for the night is just adding 7's to the flashcards that I sent home last week. It is so important for these addition facts to be fluent in order to make multiplication easy! The students will have spelling this week, but it is not due until Friday. As always, students are to read every night for at least 20 minutes and have your initials in the homework log. Again, I apologize for the late post!

Important Information
Hello Parents!
Please help me help your child to get into the habit of bringing their homework folder and homework log back to school every day. Students are to bring their homework log INSIDE their homework folder back to school every day. This way, the students start to take responsibility in writing their own homework in their homework logs daily. Especially in the beginning of the year, I will write the homework on this website because some students struggle with correctly copying the homework from the board and I want to make sure there is no stressing at home if they don't write the homework in their homework logs.
Also, please make sure you are signing your child's homework log nightly. This tells me that they are reading the required 20 minutes every night. I want my students to read as much as they can so they become more fluent readers and improve their reading comprehension, which becomes increasingly important in 3rd grade and beyond because they begin to read more informational text. Informational text also tends to be more challenging! (Think social studies and science texts!)
Finally, thank you so much for being the supportive parents that you are! I know this is going to be a year of huge growth for your child and I am excited to be a part of it! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call or email me! My email address is khill@menifeeusd.org and I will get back to you within 24 hours.

Welcome!
Welcome to a spectacular school year! I am so excited to have each and every one of your children in my class and I know we are going to learn so much this year! I decided to make this website to post homework, additional academic resources and important events. I hope you find this website helpful and that it assists you and your child in easily finding necessary information. I look forward to meeting you all at Back to School Night next week so that I can review important information with you! Back to School Night for third grade will be held on Wednesday, August 26th. There will be two sessions to help with the parking (we are such a large school!). The first session will begin at 5:30 and the second session will begin at 6:00. I will see you there!
